Why We Broke Up With Heroes

Well, today was the day we went in and got the DVRs prepared for the new TV Season.  A daunting task considering our Prioritizer has about 31 Items and we STILL haven't added everything yet.  But, after a magical dance, deciding where to record which programs on our nights of doom (Hey There Thursday), we came to a decision.

We are done with Heroes.

Sadly (or not so sadly?), it wasn't that hard of a decision.  We STILL hadn't finished the last three episodes from last season.  And after NUMEROUS attempts to do so.  We just could never get into it, and after Amy accidentaly deleted them from the one DVR, we realized...we didn't care.

We don't care about the characters anymore.  It's almost like the writers don't either.  Any redemptive qualities, even from fan favourites, have been stripped of them.  They're no longer multi-dimensional, just flat farces of what they once were.

They're not "Jumping the Shark," they're flying over "Shark Week."  Throwing in any sensationalized or nonsensicle plot to get the viewers in (Oh Hey there Lesbian Kiss publicized EVERYWHERE). Changing powers of characters because it "Just Isn't Working Anymore"  Changing your mythos because you crapped it up the first time?  Wow.  How many do-overs can one show have?  There's just no cohesiveness anymore and there are too many loose threads, we're sure if Heroes was a dress Heidi would have Auf'd it by now.

The Show Runners and NBC realize that it has been sucking too:

We've tried, believe us.  We've given Heroes SO many chances.  After pushing ourselves through episodes, saving them for weeks on end and forcing ourselves to watch them, we just can't do it anymore.

There are so many great TV shows that reward their faithful viewers for sticking by them.  And so we do (see 31 Items in Prioritizer).

But Heroes you've fallen flat too many times.  And we've read the pamphlets.  Eventually you just have to get out of that abusive relationship..

Plus you killed off our favourite character:

And we REALLY hate Claire.  Really.

  1. Seriously I always complain there are too many characters and they need to kill some off, and when they finally do, it's freakin KRISTIN BELL?! No, Heroes, just.. no...

Anyway, Heroes is off to a decent start this time around- two episodes so far and NO MOHINDER!! YESSS! I'll let you know if it gets good enough to check out again.. until then, I'm proud you could stay away.
